Jiggly Cash: Slot Overview
Sorry folks, a quick aside before we kick off the review, but amongst the truly enormous lineup of Pokémons out there to catch, one of the most amusing is a cute wee character called Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff is by no means a beast of a Pokémon; he ain't no Rayquaza, let's put it that way. No, Jigglypuff's special ability is singing, and when it sings, the audience can't help but fall into a deep dozy slumber. Then, because it thinks the audience has fallen to sleep out of boredom, it draws all over their faces. Oh, the chuckles.
And that, sorta, kinda, leads us to the slot at hand, which is titled Jiggly Cash and comes from software house Thunderkick. Unfortunately for Pokémon fans, Jiggly Cash has nothing to do with the aforementioned Pokémon. Instead, it's a scatter pay slot, which technically nestles in the sweety category, but has a focus on jelly rather than hard candies or candy floss. It remains a colourfully designed slot as these sorts of games tend to be, taking place in a jellied, sweety, magical land that looks like you could practically eat everything in it.
Jiggly Cash is played on a 6-reeled game grid with 5 rows of symbols. As long as 8 or more matching symbols land anywhere on the board, players collect a win. Thunderkick has classed the game as very high in terms of volatility, and it produces a return to player of 96.19% by default or 96.46% when buying the feature for the price of 110 times the stake. Base bets can be set as low as 10 p/c per paid game round or as high as $/€100 should players wish to roll a little higher.
At the core of the action is the Avalanche feature which removes winning symbols from the grid and drops new or existing symbols into the empty spaces. The Avalanche feature will repeat this process until no new win appears. At the end of an Avalanche sequence, the total winning amount is awarded. As for the symbols, Thunderkick has helpfully named them all. From low to high, we find the low-pay moon, flower, leaf, star, and heart, then a mid-pay Blue Jiggly, Purple Jiggly, Green Jiggly, and Yellow Jiggly, while the Red Jiggly is the one and only high pay. Payout values vary from 0.1 to 5 times the stake for an 8-symbol scatter win up to 0.5 to 30 times the stake for a 12+ symbol scatter win. For Jiggly Cash, Thunderkick has opted not to include a wild symbol.
Jiggly Cash: Slot Features
However, Jiggly Cash does possess Mystery symbols, Multiplier symbols, and Bonus symbols, which are responsible for activating associated features.
Multiplier Feature
If a win occurs horizontally or vertically next to a Multiplier symbol, the Multiplier feature is activated. The respective Multiplier symbol is removed from the reels, and its value is added to the current total multiplier value. Possible Multiplier symbol values are x2, x3, x5, x10, x25, x50, x100, or x250. If Multipliers have been activated during the Avalanche feature, then the total win is multiplied by the total multiplier at the end of the sequence. Multipliers are retained through the Avalanche feature but reset after the win has been paid.
Mystery Feature
If a win hits horizontally or vertically next to a Mystery symbol, the Mystery feature is activated. If a Mystery symbol is active during an Avalanche feature, before any scatter pay wins have been evaluated, the Mystery feature picks a random low-pay symbol and converts all instances of it into a mid or high-paying symbol.
Bonus Game
Landnig 3 bonus symbols in the base game awards 10 free spins, or, if 3 land in the bonus round, +5 free spins are awarded. Active multipliers from the main game are reset when the bonus round starts. During the bonus round, all activated multiplier values are added up and stored in the JIGGLYBANK for the duration of the round. For the multiplier to be applied at the end of an Avalanche sequence, the Multiplier feature must be activated at least during it.
Jiggly Cash: Slot Verdict
We might as well get this out in the open from the start. Jiggly Cash feels like it owes a substantial debt for its existence to Pragmatic Play and games like Gates of Olympus, amongst others. Scatter-paying slots seem to be having something of a renaissance moment at the time of writing. While once the domain of studios like Pragmatic Play, numerous casino game makers have been elbowing their way in on the action. Others include entries such as ELK Studios' Ashoka and NetEnt's Milkshake XXXtreme, to name but 3 wildly diverse alternatives.
With all this creativity swirling around the scatter-paying scene, it was interesting to see Thunderkick mirror one of the earlier adopters of the format so closely. You know, scatter wins, sweet foodstuffs, multiplier symbols, Avalanches, shoot, are we talking about Jiggly Cash or Sweet Bonanza? Both really, yet Jiggly Cash has a trick or two in store for possibly making it the sweeter choice of the two. One of its tricks is the way the Multiplier feature is available in the base game. You don't have to chomp through the main game to trigger free spins before unleashing the Candy Bombs, as in Sweet Bonanza. Symbol values in Jiggly Cash are a tad on the low side, yet with multipliers of up to x250 each, those values can quickly grow, if you're lucky. Potential too, at 10,000x the bet might not be as impressive as its more established competitor, but it feels more realistic, so that's something.
So, in the swiftly broadening scatter pay slot category, we'd have to say Jiggly Cash is capable of performing rather well indeed. It's got a pleasant Thunderkick look about it, oozes jiggly-ness, and packs potentially high-performing features to boot. At its core, the features themselves aren't massively original, but when they gel like this, it's hard to complain too loudly.
Good
Jiggly Cash unashamedly borrows from its competitors while displaying plenty of Thunderkick flair.
